Pune Gangster Bandu Andekar to Be Isolated in Prison for Attacks from Jail

Pune police have announced that gangster Suryakant alias Bandu Andekar will be completely isolated inside the Dhule prison after he allegedly orchestrated attacks on family members of the accused in the Vanraj Andekar murder case from behind bars. The police have decided to cut off all his outside contacts, including phone calls, and only lawyers will be allowed to meet him. His court proceedings will be conducted via video conferencing.

Police Commissioner's Statement

Police commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated on Monday evening, "Andekar is lodged in the Dhule prison currently. We will approach the court as well as the prison administration to cut off his outside contacts, especially with his gang members in Pune." Bandu Andekar, the leader of the Andekar gang, was arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.

Alleged Crimes from Prison

According to Kumar, Andekar orchestrated the murder of Ganesh Kale and attempted to eliminate an autorickshaw driver, Akshay Balu Mhaske of Balajinagar, while inside the prison. The police commissioner added, "We will request prison authorities to keep him in a solitary cell, produce him for court hearings through video conferencing, and refuse him access to the telephone facility available to inmates. His personal meetings will be limited to his lawyers."
