The investigation revealed that the lawyer's wife had long suspected her husband of being involved in an illicit relationship with his secretary. According to police reports, the accused trio carried out the murder on Thursday afternoon inside the lawyer's office. Senior police inspector Nilesh Badakh stated that the lawyer's wife and daughter first tied the secretary's legs with a rope. They then attacked her with a bat and a blunt object, bludgeoning her to death in a brutal assault.
After the murder, the perpetrators placed the body in a gunny bag and left it in the office. On Friday morning, the victim's husband arrived at the office and discovered his wife's body inside the bag. He immediately alerted the Chandannagar police, triggering a swift response from law enforcement.
Police Investigation and Arrests
A police team led by senior inspector Nilesh Badakh quickly took the lawyer and his daughter into custody. Simultaneously, the crime branch arrested the lawyer's wife. During interrogation, all three suspects confessed to murdering the woman, providing detailed accounts of the crime.
Badakh confirmed that the trio has been charged under Section 103 (murder) and Section 61 (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Additionally, relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been invoked in the case.
