Pune: The Khadak police have arrested a 26-year-old resident of Meenatai Thackeray Vasahat at Gultekdi for allegedly abusing and pushing police personnel on the premises of the police station around 2.20 am on Friday. The accused has been identified as Rohan Salve. A case has been registered against him under sections related to assault or using criminal force against a public servant to deter them from performing their official duties.
Incident Details
According to Senior Inspector Shashikant Chavan of Khadak police, Salve visited an eatery on Tilak Road late Thursday night in an inebriated condition. He created a disturbance at the establishment, prompting the owner to call the police control room. A police team arrived at the eatery and detained him, subsequently taking him to the police station. However, once at the station, Salve allegedly abused and pushed the personnel present there.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Salve was arrested and produced before a city court, which remanded him in police custody until Sunday. A police constable lodged a formal complaint against him on Saturday morning. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement personnel in maintaining public order and safety. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against those who obstruct or assault public servants in the discharge of their duties.
