Pune: The Shirur police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Bhabulsar village in Shirur taluka on charges of bludgeoning his 84-year-old grandfather to death. The incident occurred at 8 am on Monday after the victim, Dashrath Raut, allegedly instructed the accused, Somnath Raut, to go to their farm for work. Dashrath's elder son, Duryodhan, filed a complaint with the Shirur police.
Details of the Incident
According to police officials, the complainant was on his way to a temple when he witnessed his nephew striking his father with an iron rod. He immediately intervened to stop the attack. Somnath allegedly told the police that his grandfather frequently scolded him to do household chores. When asked to work at the farm, he became agitated and attacked him, the officer said.
Accused's History of Violence
Somnath was known to be short-tempered and had beaten up his father just two days prior to the murder. The police have arrested him under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway.
This tragic event highlights the consequences of unresolved family conflicts and the need for anger management. The community remains in shock as authorities continue their probe.
