Pune Man Arrested for Stabbing Friend to Death in Shared Rental Room
A 21-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in Pune on charges of stabbing his friend to death with a knife in their shared rental accommodation at Nanekarwadi in Khed taluka. The incident occurred on Wednesday night following a heated argument between the two individuals.
Details of the Incident and Arrest
The Chakan South police identified the deceased as Kishor Rane, aged 25. His friend, Kapil Kosalkar, was arrested under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Sub-inspector Akshay Mote of the Chakan South police provided further details on the case.
According to Mote, both Kosalkar and Rane hailed from Gondia district. They had been working in different private companies located in the MIDC area. Kosalkar had rented a room in Nanekarwadi, which the duo shared as accommodation.
Argument Leads to Fatal Stabbing
The officer stated that around 9:45 PM on Wednesday, the two friends engaged in heated arguments over a petty issue. In a fit of rage, Kosalkar took a knife and stabbed Rane multiple times in the chest and face. During the altercation, Kosalkar also sustained injuries.
Mote explained that their landlord rushed to the room after hearing the commotion. The landlord immediately took Rane to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, Rane succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital.
Aftermath and Legal Proceedings
The injured accused, Kapil Kosalkar, was also taken to the hospital for treatment. After receiving medical care, he was formally arrested by the Chakan South police. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the argument and the circumstances leading to the fatal stabbing.
