The Kothrud police in Pune have registered a case against four men for allegedly beating a 26-year-old man who sent text messages to a woman classmate. The incident occurred near Shila Vihar Colony on Paud Road on Wednesday evening.
Victim Attacked with Cricket Stump
The victim, a resident of Wagholi, was attending cyber security classes in Kothrud. He texted a female classmate asking her to share notes. On Wednesday evening, she called him outside the class, where four men assaulted him. One of the accused hit him on the head with a cricket stump, causing head injuries. When another friend tried to intervene, he too was assaulted before the attackers fled.
Police Investigation Underway
The victim lodged a complaint on Thursday. An officer from the Kothrud police stated, "We have registered a case and are looking for all four accused." The police are investigating the matter and have not yet made any arrests.
The assault has raised concerns about safety and harassment in educational settings. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
