Pune Man Dies in BRTS Lane Crash After Motorcycle Hits PMPML Bus

A tragic accident in Pune has claimed the life of a 30-year-old man after the motorcycle he was riding pillion on skidded and collided with an oncoming PMPML bus in the BRTS lane at Rahatani. The incident occurred on April 3, around 8:45 PM, when the motorcycle attempted to overtake another vehicle, leading to a fatal crash.

Details of the Fatal Accident

The deceased has been identified as Sagar Devare, a resident of Rahatani who worked as a sales executive for a private finance firm. He was riding pillion on the motorcycle driven by his 26-year-old colleague, who survived the accident with leg injuries. According to police reports, the motorcycle entered the BRTS route, which is prohibited for private vehicles, and in an attempt to overtake a car, the driver applied sudden brakes upon seeing the PMPML bus approaching from the opposite direction, causing the vehicle to skid and crash.

Police Investigation and Injuries

Police Sub-Inspector Aslam Mujawar of the Kalewadi police station stated that both riders were returning home from Jejuri when the accident happened. The motorcycle driver sustained a fractured right leg, while Devare suffered severe head and leg injuries. They were immediately taken to a private hospital, where Devare was pronounced dead by doctors. A case has been registered against the motorcycle driver with the Kalewadi police, following a complaint lodged by the PMPML driver on Sunday.
