Pune Man Sets Brother's House on Fire, Attempt Murder Case Filed

A shocking incident of fratricidal arson has come to light in Pune district, where a 42-year-old man allegedly set his younger brother's house on fire in the early hours of Sunday. The Talegaon MIDC police have registered a case of attempt to murder and mischief by fire to cause injury against the accused, a resident of Mhalunge in Khed taluka.

Incident Details

The incident occurred at Sudumbre village in Maval around 3:30 am on Sunday. According to the police, the younger brother, a 41-year-old shopkeeper, was asleep with his family in their single-storey house when the elder brother arrived. He allegedly threw petrol on the house and set it ablaze. The family members managed to escape through the kitchen window, avoiding any injuries. However, the fire caused significant damage to doors, a sofa set, other furniture, and electrical appliances.

Legal Action

The younger brother lodged a complaint with the Talegaon MIDC police later on Sunday afternoon. Based on his statement, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder and mischief by fire. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
