Pune Police Arrest Two for Vandalism and Arson

Pune: The Parvati police have apprehended two individuals accused of vandalizing two tempos and setting a house on fire in the Taware Colony area of Aranyeshwar. The incident occurred around 2 am on Monday following a quarrel with local residents.

Arrest Details

Senior Inspector Rajendra Sahane of Parvati police informed TOI, "We have arrested Rupesh Khade (24) and Mubarak Wasim Khan (25), both residents of Aranyeshwar. Both have a history of criminal cases. Khade was previously arrested under the MPID Act and was lodged in Nagpur prison. He was released on bail last year. The duo has cases of body offences and robberies against their names."

Incident Sequence

Sahane elaborated, "They damaged two tempos and then set a house on fire. No one was injured in the act of vandalism or in the fire incident. A 53-year-old woman from the area lodged a complaint with Parvati police later in the morning."

Police reported that the duo had a fight with local residents after consuming liquor. "After abusing the residents, the duo decided to teach them a lesson. They used an iron rod to damage the windshields of the two tempos and then set a house ablaze," he said.

The area houses about six hutments, and the furniture and other household articles kept in front of these houses were also gutted in the fire. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
