Gangsters Paraded to Restore Public Confidence

In a significant move to combat organized crime, the Pune City Police publicly paraded notorious gangster Krushna Andekar along with his cousins Shivraj and Abhishek Andekar through the Nana Peth area on Thursday evening. The dramatic police action aimed to instill a sense of security among local residents who had been living under the shadow of fear created by the criminal activities of the Andekar gang.

The Brutal Murder That Shook Pune

The three paraded gang members are key accused in the sensational murder of 18-year-old Ayush Komkar, which occurred on September 5, 2025 at Bhavani Peth. Police investigations reveal that this murder was an act of revenge connected to the earlier killing of former NCP corporator Vanraj Andekar, who was also the son of gang leader Bandu Andekar.

According to police officials, the Andekar gang had established a reign of terror in the Nana Peth and Ganesh Peth areas through their extensive criminal network. The situation escalated to such an extent that authorities invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the entire gang.

Complex Family Feud Turns Deadly

Investigations uncovered a web of family connections behind the violent crimes. Ayush Komkar was the son of Kalyani Komkar, who happens to be one of the daughters of gang patriarch Bandu Andekar. This revelation highlights the complex family dynamics driving the criminal violence.

In connection with Vanraj Andekar's murder on September 1, 2024, police had previously arrested several individuals including Kalyani's husband Ganesh Komkar, her sister Sanjivani and Sanjivani's husband Jayant Komkar. Other arrests included rival Somnath Gaikwad and Sam alias Sameer Kale.

The cycle of violence continued when on November 1 afternoon, Ganesh Kale (30), brother of Sameer Kale and an auto rickshaw driver, was shot dead by four motorcycle-borne assailants near Khadi Machine chowk in Kondhwa. Police believe this murder was carried out under instructions from jailed gangster Bandu Andekar and his son Krushna.

Comprehensive Police Action Against Gang Network

In a multi-pronged approach to dismantle the gang's infrastructure, Pune police last month demolished several illegal structures owned by the Andekar gang across the city. The crackdown extended to digital platforms where police registered offenses against youngsters who had posted social media content glorifying the criminal activities of the Andekar gang members.

The police operation has resulted in the arrest of 16 individuals including Bandu Andekar and his son Krushna in connection with Ayush Komkar's murder case. The invocation of MCOCA indicates the seriousness with which authorities are treating the organized crime syndicate operated by the Andekar family.

Police officials stated that the public parade of the gang members was necessary to demonstrate their commitment to restoring law and order in areas where the Andekar gang had previously operated with impunity, creating widespread fear among local residents through their criminal enterprises.
