Pune society chairman booked after child dies in slide collapse

The Hadapsar police in Pune have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the chairman and committee members of a housing society following the death of a four-and-a-half-year-old girl. The incident occurred on April 7 when a slide collapsed on the child in the society's play area. She succumbed to her injuries on April 15.

Complaint Filed by Father

The girl's father, a 34-year-old software engineer, lodged the complaint with the Hadapsar police. According to the police officer, the complainant stated that the society's chairman and committee members had installed the slide on an open plot a few months ago. Residents had repeatedly raised concerns about its unsafe condition, but the chairman and committee members allegedly ignored these warnings.

Details of the Incident

The complainant said his daughter was playing on the premises after returning from pre-primary school at around 12:30 pm on April 7. While playing, she approached the slide and began climbing. The slide shook, causing the girl to fall, and then the entire structure collapsed on her. She sustained injuries to her face, neck, and head.
