The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch on Friday dismantled a sex racket operating under the guise of a spa in Wakad, leading to the arrest of the spa owner and manager. The police also discovered two women who were allegedly forced into prostitution at the establishment, and both were sent to a rescue home.
Details of the operation
A team from the crime branch, led by senior police inspector Nitin Gite, carried out the raid and made the arrests. A case has been registered against the spa owner and manager at the Hinjewadi police station on Saturday.
Gite stated that since January this year, his team has conducted raids on 11 spas or massage parlours and four hotels where prostitution activities were allegedly taking place. Additionally, the police have busted one online prostitution racket.
Statistics on enforcement actions
“The police have sent 37 women to rescue homes and arrested 38 persons involved in running the sex rackets,” Gite said. According to him, Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey has issued orders to seal three spas and one hotel for a year where sex rackets were being operated. In 2025, the CP had issued orders to shut eight establishments for a year.
“We will continue our action against illegal sex rackets in Pimpri Chinchwad,” Gite added.
