Pune Vendor Held for Stabbing Pregnant Wife

The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Thursday arrested a 22-year-old vegetable vendor from Urse village in Maval taluka on charges of attempting to kill his three-month pregnant wife by stabbing her. The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday inside their rented home. The 24-year-old woman is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital, and her condition is reported to be stable, according to police officials.

Details of the Incident

An officer from the Shirgaon police station stated that the couple runs a vegetable stall in Urse and lives in a rented accommodation. The woman is three months pregnant. In her complaint, she alleged that her husband attempted to kill her in the early hours of Wednesday when she refused physical intimacy due to her pregnancy. The officer said, 'He first throttled her and then stabbed her.'

Medical Assistance and Arrest

Neighbors rushed the woman to a hospital after hearing her cries. Following medical treatment, she filed a complaint with the police. The accused was arrested under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police have initiated further investigations into the case.
