Pune Woman and Live-In Partner Arrested for Alleged Murder of Her 6-Year-Old Son

In a shocking incident in Pune, a 27-year-old woman and her live-in partner have been arrested for the alleged murder of her six-year-old son. The brutal crime occurred on April 4 at the partner's apartment in Kuruli village, Khed, where police say the child was killed by banging his head against a bathroom wall and then drowned in a bucket.

Gruesome Details of the Crime Emerge During Police Interrogation

According to police sub-inspector S R Jaybhaye of the South Mahalunge police, the woman admitted during interrogation that she and her partner killed her son because the child had become an obstacle in their new relationship. The officer revealed that for about a month prior to the incident, the partner had been quarreling with the woman and pressuring her to send the boy back to either her parents or her husband.

The woman, who hails from Beed district, had been living separately from her husband due to marital disputes. Approximately four months ago, she moved to Kuruli with her husband's friend, a cab driver, and began a live-in relationship with him, bringing her young son along.

Attempted Cover-Up and Family Suspicious Unravel the Truth

After allegedly committing the murder, the couple transported the boy's body to the woman's parents' home in Beed district using the partner's cab. They told the grieving grandparents that the child had died of a heart attack. However, the woman's father immediately suspected foul play and informed her in-laws about their grandson's untimely death.

When the in-laws examined the body, they noticed visible injury marks and became suspicious, prompting them to alert local police authorities. The Parali Rural police subsequently sent the body for post-mortem examination, which conclusively determined that the boy had died from drowning rather than natural causes.

Police Investigation Leads to Arrests and Ongoing Search

Initially, police registered a case of accidental death, but as evidence mounted, they transferred the woman to the South Mahalunge police station on Wednesday. During intensive questioning, she confessed to her involvement in the killing alongside her partner.

The woman has been arrested and remanded to police custody for five days, while authorities have launched a search operation to locate and apprehend her partner, who remains at large. Police investigations are actively continuing to gather additional evidence and understand the complete sequence of events leading to this tragic incident.

This case has highlighted serious concerns about domestic violence and child safety in unconventional living arrangements, with authorities emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious circumstances involving vulnerable children.
