A tragic accident occurred in Pune's Ambegaon area on Wednesday evening, claiming the life of a 48-year-old painting worker. The victim, identified as Shrikant Bhatade, a resident of Katraj, was sleeping behind a parked car when the driver reversed the vehicle without noticing him.
Details of the Incident
The accident took place around 6:15 pm on Wednesday in front of a furniture store at Dattanagar in Ambegaon. According to the police, Bhatade was sleeping behind the car, which was parked near the store. The driver, who was from Baramati, did not see Bhatade and reversed the vehicle, running over him.
Bhatade sustained severe injuries after coming under the wheels of the car. The car owner and the driver immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police Action
The Ambegaon police have arrested the car driver on charges of causing death by negligence. The complaint was lodged by Bhatade's wife on Thursday. An officer from the Ambegaon police station confirmed the details of the accident.
