Punjab DGP Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Anti-Narcotics Task Force Facility in Jalandhar
In a significant move to bolster the fight against drug trafficking, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav inaugurated the newly constructed ultra-modern Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Jalandhar Range building at Police Lines on Thursday. This advanced facility is designed to target major drug traffickers and dismantle international narcotics networks operating across the state.
Cutting-Edge Tools and Technical Capabilities
The DGP emphasized that the ANTF building is equipped with cutting-edge tools to enhance investigative efficiency. The specialized unit features mobile and computer forensic tools, advanced data analysis systems, and capabilities for forensic data extraction, decryption, and analysis. Additionally, it includes equipment for technical interception and cryptocurrency tracking, enabling authorities to trace digital transactions linked to drug crimes.
Gaurav Yadav highlighted the upgrade in technical capabilities with the Punjab Artificial Intelligence System (PAIS 2.0), which now supports voice analysis. This system boasts a database of over 70,000 voices of criminals, along with other state-of-the-art features to aid in identifying and prosecuting offenders.
Success of the 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' Campaign
The DGP claimed that the 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign has been a huge success and will continue until drugs are eradicated from Punjab. He provided detailed statistics on the campaign's impact since March 1, 2025:
- 35,133 FIRs registered
- 50,238 drug smugglers arrested
- Recoveries include 2,229 kg heroin, 667 kg opium, 28 tons poppy husk, 68 kg charas, 783 kg ganja, 29 kg ICE, 4 kg cocaine, 48.64 lakh intoxicant pills/tablets, and Rs 16.68 crores in drug money
Key Officials Present at the Inauguration
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior police officials, underscoring the importance of this initiative. Accompanying DGP Gaurav Yadav were Special DGP ANTF Kuldeep Singh, ADGP ANTF Nilabh Kishore, and ADGP State Armed Police Punjab MF Farooqui. Also present were Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur and Jalandhar Range DIG Naveen Singla, highlighting the collaborative effort in combating narcotics.
