Punjab Police's 'Gangstran Te Vaar' Campaign Nets 4,061 Arrests in 13 Days

On the thirteenth day of the intensive 'Gangstran Te Vaar' campaign, the Punjab Police achieved significant milestones in their crackdown on organized crime and drug trafficking across the state. According to an official spokesperson from the state police, the operations on Sunday resulted in the arrest of 148 individuals and the recovery of four weapons. This brings the total number of arrests since the initiative's launch to an impressive 4,061, underscoring the police's relentless efforts to curb criminal activities.

Massive Raids and Preventive Actions

Police teams conducted a staggering 767 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to gangster associates throughout Punjab. In addition to the arrests, preventive measures were taken against 178 persons, while 291 individuals were verified and released after thorough questioning. The operation also led to the arrest of 14 proclaimed offenders (POs), further tightening the noose around fugitives evading the law.

Drug Crackdown: Yudh Nashian Virudh Campaign

Simultaneously, the Punjab Police continued their Yudh Nashian Virudh drive against drug smuggling, now in its 337th day. On Sunday alone, 73 drug smugglers were apprehended, with significant recoveries including:

  • 2.8 kg of heroin
  • 252 grams of opium
  • 386 intoxicant tablets/capsules
  • Rs 14,730 in drug money

This brings the total number of drug smugglers arrested under this campaign to 47,355, highlighting the scale of the police's commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the state.

De-addiction and Rehabilitation Efforts

In a compassionate move towards rehabilitation, the Punjab Police successfully convinced 30 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Sunday. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to not only enforce the law but also support individuals in breaking free from addiction, promoting long-term societal well-being.

The spokesperson emphasized that these coordinated actions reflect the police's multi-pronged approach to enhancing public safety and tackling the root causes of crime in Punjab.
