Bathinda: The Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) apprehended two individuals and recovered two country-made .32 bore pistols along with five live cartridges from their possession, as announced by DGP Gaurav Yadav on Saturday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Kuldeep Singh and Abhimaan Singh.
Investigation Reveals Links to Criminal Network
DGP Yadav stated that preliminary investigation indicated that both arrested accused were connected to a criminal network operated by a jailed gangster active in the Ferozepur region. Kuldeep Singh alias Cheema has a criminal background and is involved in multiple cases related to attempt to murder and the Arms Act, according to the DGP. Further investigation is underway to establish backward and forward linkages of the network and identify other associates involved.
Operational Details of the Arrest
Sharing operational details, ADGP Promod Ban said that a team from AGTF Bathinda was on routine patrolling duty when they noticed two suspicious persons near Cantoment Bypass Ring Road in Bathinda. Upon noticing the police party, both individuals became nervous and attempted to conceal themselves. Sensing suspicion, the police team apprehended them, and during frisking, illegal weapons along with live ammunition were recovered from their possession.
In this regard, an FIR under Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Civil Lines Bathinda. The police are continuing their efforts to dismantle the gangster network operating in the region.
