In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Punjab Police has made substantial headway with its intensive 'Gangstran Te Vaar' campaign, which has now completed a rigorous two-week period. According to Arpit Shukla, the Special DGP (Law and Order), the state-wide operation has led to the arrest of a staggering 4,233 individuals, including notorious gangsters and their criminal associates.
Massive Raids and Recoveries Across Punjab
Since the launch of this aggressive initiative, police teams have conducted an impressive 14,382 raids spanning various districts of Punjab. These coordinated efforts have not only resulted in numerous arrests but have also led to the recovery of a substantial cache of illegal arms and ammunition.
Weapons and Ammunition Seized
During the campaign, law enforcement officials successfully confiscated 116 weapons from the possession of the arrested individuals. Additionally, they recovered 262 live cartridges and 23 magazines, significantly disrupting the operational capabilities of criminal networks across the state.
Preventive Measures and Questioning Procedures
Beyond the arrests, the Punjab Police has taken proactive steps to maintain public safety. Preventive action was initiated against 2,311 persons, aimed at curbing potential criminal activities before they could materialize. Furthermore, 4,008 individuals were subjected to thorough verification and questioning processes, with authorities releasing them after ensuring they posed no immediate threat.
Focus on Proclaimed Offenders
A key highlight of the campaign has been the targeted pursuit of proclaimed offenders. In the last 14 days alone, police teams managed to arrest 283 such individuals, who had been evading law enforcement for extended periods. This focused approach underscores the police's commitment to bringing fugitives to justice.

Providing insights into the most recent developments, Shukla detailed the activities from Day 14 of the campaign. On this day, police teams conducted 613 raids, resulting in the arrest of 172 individuals. Preventive action was also taken against 159 persons, and nine proclaimed offenders were apprehended, demonstrating the ongoing intensity of the operation.
