In a major breakthrough against cross-border terror networks, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, has apprehended two associates of a foreign-based terror operative from Mohali and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Thursday.

IED Recovery and Foiled Plot

According to the DGP, the operation led to the recovery of the IED and the foiling of an alleged terror plot aimed at targeting critical public infrastructure in SAS Nagar. The timely action by the security agencies is believed to have averted a potentially serious threat to public safety and security.

Links to Foreign Operative

Police officials said the arrested individuals were allegedly linked to a foreign-based terror operative and were part of a larger conspiracy. The recovery of the explosive device is being viewed as a significant success in ongoing efforts to curb cross-border terrorism and prevent attacks on vital installations.
