Puri College Student Attacked with Blade on Way to Examination
In a shocking and deeply concerning incident, a college student was allegedly attacked with a blade while she was on her way to appear for an examination in Puri district on Friday morning. The assault occurred at Nagpur village under the jurisdiction of the Gop police station, sending ripples of alarm through the local community.

According to detailed reports, the student was cycling to Gop College around 8 am to appear for her critical Plus II examination. Tragedy struck barely 200 metres from her house when an unidentified man suddenly launched a vicious attack. The assailant, described as aged between 40 and 50 years, reportedly targeted the young woman as she was waiting for a friend at a village junction.
Hearing her desperate screams, alert locals rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the injured student. She was initially taken to the Nagpur medical facility for emergency treatment. However, as her condition was deemed critical, she was subsequently shifted to the Gop medical centre for more advanced care. The victim sustained significant injuries on her neck, highlighting the severity of the assault.
Police Response and Investigation Underway
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Nimapada, Janardan Padhi, provided crucial updates on the case. "Preliminary inquiry suggests that a man aged between 40 and 50 attacked the student while she was waiting for a friend," stated Padhi. He confirmed that the victim's condition is now stable, offering a glimmer of relief amidst the distressing event.
Acting on the direct directions of the Superintendent of Police (SP), authorities have formed a special investigative team to delve into this alarming case. This team comprises three Inspectors-in-Charge (IICs) along with other senior officers, underscoring the seriousness with which law enforcement is treating the incident.
