A senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Rajasthan Police has been placed under Awaiting Posting Orders (APO) following the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against him on allegations of rape. The action was taken on Saturday, officials confirmed.
Officer Identified
The officer has been identified as Kishan Sahai Meena, who was serving as Inspector General (Human Rights) at the Police Headquarters in Jaipur. The FIR was registered on April 29 at a local police station based on a complaint submitted by a woman.
Administrative Action
Although the state government did not explicitly link the APO order to the allegations, the official order issued on Saturday stated that the officer had been placed under APO for "administrative reasons." This move effectively removes him from his current posting without assigning new duties.
Allegations
According to police sources, the complainant alleged that the officer called her to a government residence, where he sexually assaulted her. She further claimed that her mobile phone was switched off during the incident, and she was physically assaulted. Subsequently, she was threatened not to report the matter to authorities.
The woman also stated that she continued to receive threatening phone calls for several days after the alleged assault. Police officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway but declined to provide further details at this stage.
The development has drawn attention to the handling of serious allegations against senior law enforcement officials in the state. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
