Rajasthan Police Crack Down on Interstate Burglary Ring in Major Jaipur Operation
In a significant breakthrough, the Rajasthan police on Tuesday successfully dismantled an interstate criminal gang allegedly responsible for a recent high-value burglary in the upscale C-Scheme area of Jaipur. Authorities have apprehended two key members of the gang from New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, marking a crucial step in the ongoing investigation.
Recovery of Stolen Valuables and Case Background
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma confirmed that cash and jewellery valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh were seized from the two accused individuals. The case traces back to a burglary on January 28 in Bhagirath Colony, where the gang targeted an unoccupied residence and absconded with valuables worth several lakhs of rupees. Following the incident, an FIR was officially registered at the Vidhayakpuri police station, prompting the formation of a dedicated special team to pursue the perpetrators.
Extensive Investigation and Coordinated Raids
The investigation proved to be a meticulous endeavor, involving the examination of footage from nearly 500 CCTV cameras along the suspects' escape route after the Bhagirath Colony break-in. Leveraging insights from this video analysis and additional intelligence provided by the Jaipur police Cyber Cell, separate police teams were deployed to New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Through coordinated technical surveillance and ground operations, raids were executed in the Mayur Vihar locality of New Delhi and the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. These operations led to the arrests of the two accused, identified as Shan Mohammad alias Shanu (25), a resident of Trilokpuri in New Delhi, and Shakeel Ahmad, from Chandpur in Bijnor district.
Criminal Profiles and Gang Modus Operandi
Police revealed that Shan Mohammad is a notorious interstate criminal with a substantial record, including 35 prior cases registered against him for charges such as theft, burglary, assault, robbery, and violations under the Arms Act. He has been convicted twice in separate cases by the courts.
Interrogation of the arrested individuals has provided critical insights into the gang's operational methods. Members reportedly conducted surveillance on locked or vacant houses, breaking in when occupants were absent. They would steal vehicle number plates and distribute the loot among themselves to finance extravagant lifestyles.
Ongoing Efforts and Future Steps
DCP Varma emphasized that the possibility of additional accomplices being involved has not been ruled out. Efforts are currently underway to identify these individuals and trace their whereabouts, ensuring a comprehensive crackdown on the criminal network. This operation underscores the Rajasthan police's commitment to tackling interstate crime and enhancing security in the region.
