Rajasthan Police Uncover Murder Plot in Hit-and-Run Case, Arrest Widow and Accomplices
In a shocking turn of events, what initially appeared to be a deadly hit-and-run incident in Rajasthan has been exposed as a meticulously planned murder conspiracy. The Rajasthan police, after growing suspicious from postmortem findings, have arrested the widow and her accomplices, unraveling a tale of an unhappy marriage and deceit.
Initial Investigation and Suspicious Findings
On January 30, a newly-wed couple, Ashish Kumar and Anjali, were found lying by the roadside in village 01 KLM under the Rawla police station area. At first glance, it seemed like a hit-and-run robbery, with the couple stripped of their gold, suggesting they had been run over and robbed by a passing vehicle. Ashish, a 27-year-old private school teacher, was declared dead on arrival at the nearest hospital, while Anjali, who was taken to a hospital in Bikaner, claimed her husband had been run over during a post-dinner walk.
However, the police grew suspicious after the postmortem report revealed that Ashish had been beaten with sticks and strangled, contradicting the hit-and-run narrative. This discovery prompted a deeper investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Unraveling the Conspiracy
According to SHO Balwant Singh of Rawla police station, the investigation uncovered that Anjali was unhappy with her marriage to Ashish, which had taken place just three months earlier. She had returned to her parents' home shortly after the wedding, where she allegedly reconnected with her boyfriend, Sanjay alias Sanju. Together, they plotted to murder Ashish to remove him from the picture.
Anjali then returned to her husband's home to execute the plan. On the night of January 30, when Ashish and Anjali went out for a walk, Sanjay and his friends, Rohit alias Rocky and Badal alias Siddharth, were hiding in bushes about 200 meters from Ashish's house. As the couple reached a secluded stretch of the road, the accused allegedly attacked Ashish with sticks, killing him on the spot.
Arrests and Evidence
To make the crime appear like a robbery, Anjali allegedly handed over Ashish's mobile phone and earrings to the other accused and then pretended to faint at the scene. The police, through sustained questioning and evidence collected from the spot, exposed the conspiracy. On February 3, they arrested Anjali (23), Sanjay (25), Rohit (20), and Badal (20) for their alleged roles in planning and carrying out the murder.
Balwant Singh stated that Ashish had joined a private school as a teacher just three days before his death and lived with his parents and other family members. The case has drawn comparisons to last year's Meghalaya honeymoon case, highlighting the dark underbelly of marital disputes and criminal intent.
Broader Implications
This incident underscores the vigilance of the Rajasthan police in investigating crimes that may initially seem straightforward. It also raises concerns about domestic issues and the lengths to which individuals might go to resolve personal conflicts. The arrests serve as a reminder of the importance of thorough forensic and investigative procedures in uncovering the truth behind such tragic events.
As the investigation continues, the police are likely to delve deeper into the motives and connections of the accused, ensuring justice for Ashish and his family. This case has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting discussions on marriage, trust, and the role of law enforcement in protecting citizens from such heinous acts.
