Rajkot Car Crash: Instagram Speed Post Moments Before Fatal Accident Claims Two Lives
A tragic car accident in Rajkot district has highlighted the deadly consequences of speeding combined with social media obsession. The incident occurred in Jetpur taluka when a sedan, allegedly driven at extremely high speed, crashed into a farmhouse wall, resulting in two fatalities and one serious injury.
Fatal Moments Captured on Social Media
According to police reports, 20-year-old Avadh Tiwari, the driver of the vehicle, had uploaded an Instagram story showing the car's speedometer reading 118 kilometers per hour shortly before the catastrophic crash. This social media post has become crucial evidence in the investigation, demonstrating the driver's reckless behavior moments before the accident.
Police Inspector M M Thakor from the Jetpur Industrial Area police station confirmed that the accident occurred between 9:15 pm and 9:30 pm on Saturday evening. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Tiwari dead inside the severely damaged vehicle.
Victims and Aftermath
The car contained two other occupants who sustained critical injuries in the crash:
- Devraj Gosai (16) - Succumbed to injuries during treatment at Junagadh Civil Hospital on Sunday
- Akshay Vaghela (22) - Currently undergoing treatment at the hospital with serious injuries
All three individuals were residents of Jetpur city, adding to the local community's grief over the preventable tragedy.
Criminal History of the Driver
Police investigation revealed that Avadh Tiwari had a significant criminal record. The 20-year-old had four previous cases registered against him at different police stations in Rajkot rural area, including charges related to assault. Authorities had also taken action against him under the PASA Act.
Most notably, Tiwari had been released from jail just ten days before the fatal accident, raising questions about rehabilitation and monitoring of individuals with criminal histories.
Legal Proceedings
Officials confirmed that a case is being registered against the deceased driver at the Jetpur Industrial Area police station in connection with the incident. This legal action, though posthumous, underscores the seriousness of the offense and serves as a warning about the consequences of reckless driving.
