Rajkot Cybercrime Police Arrest BHMS Practitioner for Clinic Spy Camera Blackmail

In a shocking case of privacy violation and extortion, the Rajkot city cybercrime police arrested a 31-year-old BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) practitioner on Sunday. The accused, identified as Kamal Nandha, allegedly installed a concealed spy camera inside his clinic located on Sadhu Vaswani Road. He is accused of using objectionable footage recorded by the device to blackmail a fellow doctor.

Details of the Covert Surveillance Operation

According to police reports, Nandha hid the spy camera behind a bulb holder at his clinic. This hidden device was used to record private moments of a 49-year-old BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) practitioner and a female doctor. Investigators revealed that the camera also captured videos of patients being examined or while they were administered injections, raising serious concerns about medical privacy and ethics.

The Blackmail Scheme and Financial Demands

The complaint filed with authorities states that Nandha later shared the compromising videos with a group of scribes. He then demanded Rs 25 lakh from the BAMS doctor to prevent the circulation of these video clips. The complainant alleged that an initial payment of Rs 50,000 had already been made to the accused before the matter was reported to the police.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Cybercrime officials conducted a thorough search at Nandha's clinic on Saturday, leading to his subsequent arrest. Investigating officer J M Kaila provided preliminary findings indicating that the accused had been practising medicine for 7-8 years and was currently offering online consultations alongside his clinic practice.

Police confirmed that the accused will be produced before a court on Monday to seek remand for further questioning. During the ongoing investigation, officers plan to seize his mobile phone and other electronic devices found at the clinic to examine digital evidence.

Broader Investigation Scope

Investigators are actively probing several critical aspects of this case:

  • How Nandha came in contact with other accused persons with whom he first shared the videos
  • Whether the objectionable footage was circulated elsewhere beyond the initial recipients
  • If any extorted money was shared among accomplices
  • Whether additional data—suspected to include thousands of video clips—was stored on other devices

The motive behind installing the spy camera and whether anyone else assisted in this criminal act is also under active investigation, according to police statements. This case highlights growing concerns about privacy violations in professional settings and the misuse of technology for extortion purposes.
