Rajkot Farmer Killed, Son Injured in Violent 'Compromise' Meeting
A 55-year-old farmer was killed and his son sustained serious injuries after a scheduled compromise meeting turned violent in Shivrajpur village of Rajkot district's Jasdan taluka. Police have registered a case against six members of the Mundhva family for the murder of Chhagan Zapadiya and the assault on his son Nilesh Zapadiya.
Details of the Tragic Incident
In the shocking incident, Chhagan Zapadiya, who was engaged in farming, was fatally attacked, while his son Nilesh Zapadiya suffered severe injuries and was subsequently shifted to a private hospital in Rajkot for urgent medical treatment. The official complaint was lodged by Zapadiya's second son, Shailesh, who works with a pharmaceutical company.
Those booked by the police include Sanjay Mundhva, Viram Mundhva, Vaja Mundhva, Naran Mundhva, Sagar Mundhva, and other family members. According to the complaint, the conflict originated on February 12 when Nilesh and others from their village were traveling on a motorcycle to attend a wedding in the outskirts of Khanda Hadmatiya village.
Escalation from Argument to Violence
During the journey, they had an argument with Sanjay Mundhva over parking a vehicle on the road. A compromise meeting was reportedly scheduled for February 13 to resolve the dispute amicably. However, the complainant alleged that during the meeting, Narayan Mundhva attempted to run over the Zapadiya family with a vehicle similar to a pick-up van. The complainant and others managed to escape by running aside.
Later, Vaja attacked Chhagan with a knife, stabbing him in the stomach and chest. When Nilesh tried to intervene, Mundhva stabbed him as well. Chhagan and Nilesh were rushed to the Jasdan Government Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Chhagan dead. Nilesh was then shifted to Rajkot for further specialized treatment.
