A late-night journey turned tragic on Monday when a road accident on the Dhrangadhra-Malvan highway resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left two others, both serving police officers, injured.

Details of the Fatal Incident

The accident occurred when four friends were travelling from Malvan towards Dhrangadhra. According to preliminary information from the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle near Haripar village. It is reported that the driver swerved to avoid an animal that suddenly appeared on the road, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Victims and Immediate Aftermath

The two friends who lost their lives were identified as Kripalsinh Zhala (48) and Bonil Desai (28). Both were residents of Dhrangadhra and were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The two injured individuals are police officers who had joined their friends for dinner and were returning to Dhrangadhra at the time. Dharmendrasinh, posted at the Dhrangadhra Taluka police station, is currently undergoing treatment at the Surendranagar government hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The other officer, Balvantsinh, who serves at the Malvan police station, was discharged after receiving primary medical care.

Investigation and Official Response

The Dhrangadhra taluka police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. Police Sub-Inspector M B Virja provided details on the condition of the injured. This tragic event highlights the persistent dangers on highways, especially during night travel.

Authorities are examining all factors, including driver fatigue and road conditions, as part of their probe. The community of Dhrangadhra is mourning the loss of the two deceased individuals while hoping for the swift recovery of the injured officers.
