Rajkot Horror: Bedridden Wife's Cancer Exploited by Husband to Rape Daughter for 4 Years

What began as a routine missing persons investigation in Upleta town of Rajkot district has unraveled a deeply disturbing case of predatory abuse that exploited a family's medical crisis. A 45-year-old physically challenged man stands accused of repeatedly raping his minor daughter for four years, taking advantage of his wife being bed-ridden with last-stage cancer.

Missing Person Report Leads to Shocking Revelation

Ironically, the accused himself had filed a missing person report approximately three days ago with the Upleta police when the family could not locate his daughter. When officers traced the 19-year-old girl, she flatly refused to return to her family home. Suspicious of her intense fear, the police brought in professional counselors.

During these therapeutic sessions, the survivor broke her silence, detailing a harrowing ordeal that began when she was just 15 years old. The girl had finally fled the house out of pure desperation, wandering the nearby area for a day before being found by authorities.

Heinous Modus Operandi Uncovered

Talking to media, Vijaysingh Gurjar, superintendent of police (SP) for Rajkot Rural, revealed the accused's calculated methods. The electrician by profession reportedly waited until midnight to enter his daughter's room, intentionally increasing the television volume to drown out her cries.

"The accused used to force her to watch pornographic content and raped her repeatedly," Gurjar stated, adding that "we recovered physical evidence from the scene, including gels and protection used during the exploitation."

The investigation revealed how the accused manipulated the family's dire circumstances to facilitate his crimes. The victim's mother is currently battling stage 4 breast cancer and remains completely bedridden. As the only child, the victim was forced to drop out of school after primary education to manage all household responsibilities and serve as a full-time caregiver for her mother.

Confession and Additional Victims

Under police interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to his crimes, chillingly stating that while he initially felt guilt, the abuse eventually became a "routine." The horror, however, appears to extend beyond his immediate household.

Police discovered evidence suggesting the man also targeted other women family members. The accused admitted to raping his 17-year-old niece and his sister-in-law (brother's wife). "We are currently counselling the minor niece and are in the process of registering additional offences against the accused," confirmed Gurjar.

Legal Action and Medical Examination

On Saturday, the Rajkot Rural police arrested the accused, who walks with a limp. He has been charged under relevant sections of rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim was sent for a comprehensive medical examination to document evidence of the prolonged abuse.

This case highlights several critical issues:

  • The exploitation of vulnerable family situations by predators
  • The isolation faced by caregivers in medical crises
  • The importance of professional counseling in uncovering sexual abuse
  • The need for community vigilance in identifying potential abuse situations

The police continue their investigation while ensuring the survivor and other potential victims receive necessary support and protection from further trauma.
