Rajkot Police Arrest Man for Alleged Abduction and Sexual Assault of Teen Girl
A Division police in Rajkot have arrested one Nawaz Khan Pathan for allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl near her home in the early hours of Monday. The victim's mother, aged 35, lodged a formal complaint at the A Division police station, leading to swift police action.
Details of the Incident
According to the complaint, the family was awakened by a commotion near their house around 5:00 AM on March 23. Upon investigating, they discovered the girl near the house, accompanied by the accused, Nawaz Khan Pathan, a resident of the Jangleshwar area. Pathan, who was interacting with the girl, fled in his car after being spotted, prompting an immediate pursuit by the victim's uncle.
Victim's Account of the Assault
The girl later revealed to her family that around 3:00 AM, she received a message from Pathan asking her to come outside. When she complied, he instructed her to get into his car. On her refusal, he allegedly grabbed her hand and forcibly pulled her into the vehicle. She was then taken to an undisclosed location where she was sexually assaulted. The victim further disclosed that Pathan had been continually harassing her over the phone despite repeated warnings to stop.
Legal Action and Charges
Based on the mother's complaint, A Division police registered a case against Pathan under Sections 75 and 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. These charges pertain to abduction, sexual assault, and offenses against children, highlighting the severity of the alleged crimes.
