Rajkot Man's Failed Relationship Leads to Family Kidnapping

In a disturbing incident rooted in romantic rejection, a 29-year-old man in Rajkot orchestrated the kidnapping of his former girlfriend's mother and teenage brother late on Thursday. The crime, which unfolded on Sadhu Vaswani Road, was motivated by the accused's inability to accept the termination of his past relationship with the young woman.

Swift Police Action Rescues Victims

University police demonstrated remarkable efficiency by rescuing the victims—45-year-old Aruna Solanki and her 14-year-old son—and arresting four men within hours of receiving the complaint. A coordinated manhunt through the night led to the interception of the suspects on Bhavnagar Road, where the woman and boy were found unharmed. The police have taken four individuals into custody while continuing their search for one absconding suspect.

Details of the Abduction

The sequence of events began when Jayesh Solanki, Aruna's husband, noticed his former neighbor Krunal Mithar (29) and friend Bharat Kalotra (30) following him in a white car while he was heading to his workplace near KKV Hall. Sensing potential danger, Solanki alerted his wife via telephone. Later, Aruna and her son visited Jayesh at his workplace before departing for home.

When repeated calls to Aruna around 9:15 PM went unanswered, Solanki discovered that unknown persons had forcibly taken his wife and son away in a white vehicle. He immediately filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the University police station, charging the perpetrators with kidnapping and abetment.

Investigation and Arrests

Inspector Hareshkumar Patel revealed that the accused initially drove toward Bhavnagar before abandoning their vehicle near Tramba. Through technical surveillance and human intelligence, police learned that the suspects had switched vehicles and were returning toward Rajkot. This crucial information enabled authorities to intercept them on Bhavnagar Road.

The arrested individuals include:

  • Krunal Mithar (29), originally from Gadhada, previously residing on Sadhu Vaswani Road
  • Bharat Kalotra (30), from Bhandariya village in Jasdan taluka
  • Jaydeep Limbasiya (24), a laborer in the transport sector
  • Alpesh Chavda (20), a laborer in a tile factory

Both Mithar and Kalotra are reportedly involved in the dairy business. Police confirmed that efforts are actively underway to trace and apprehend the remaining suspect, identified as Nagaraj, who remains at large.

Broader Implications

This incident highlights the dangerous consequences that can arise from unresolved personal conflicts and emotional rejection. The swift police response demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated law enforcement efforts in addressing serious crimes against families. The case continues to develop as investigators gather additional evidence and pursue the remaining suspect.
