Rajkot Police Recovers Rs 27 Lakh Stolen Groundnut Oil and Truck in Interstate Operation
In a significant interstate operation, the Gondal Taluka police of Rajkot district have successfully apprehended an accused and recovered stolen groundnut oil along with a truck, collectively valued at a staggering Rs 27 lakh, from Rajasthan. This operation highlights the diligent efforts of law enforcement in tackling cross-border criminal activities.
Details of the Theft and Investigation
The incident began when a truck operated by a Rajkot-based transporter was dispatched from the limits of Gondal Taluka police station to Santej in Ahmedabad. The vehicle was carrying a substantial cargo of 476 tins of groundnut oil, with an estimated value of Rs 13.13 lakh. In a breach of trust for personal gain, the accused allegedly diverted the truck, which itself is valued at Rs 15 lakh, and fled with the entire consignment.
Following the registration of a complaint at the Gondal Taluka police station, authorities swiftly formed a special police team dedicated to tracing the accused and recovering the stolen goods. The investigation gained momentum when police received a crucial tip-off indicating that the suspect had fled to the neighbouring state of Rajasthan.
Interstate Raid and Recovery
Acting on this intelligence, the special police team travelled to Rajasthan to pursue the case. Their efforts led them to first locate the missing truck, which was found abandoned in a hotel parking lot located in Rajsamand district. Further meticulous inquiries revealed that the stolen oil tins had been stored in a locked house on the outskirts of a village.
With the assistance of local police forces, a coordinated raid was executed on the premises. During this operation, one individual was discovered guarding the consignment. Through a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, police later arrested the primary accused, identified as Suresh Mediya (Rawat), aged 20, from his residence in Todgarh village of Beawar district, Rajasthan.
Confession and Ongoing Search
During interrogation, Suresh confessed to his involvement in the crime, admitting that he had sold a portion of the stolen oil tins to various hotels. As a result of the operation, police successfully recovered 437 tins of groundnut oil, worth approximately Rs 12 lakh, along with the truck. The total recovery amounts to nearly the full value of the stolen items.
However, the investigation is far from over. Authorities are actively searching for three more absconding suspects, all residents of Rajasthan. The individuals named are Dilip alias Rawat, Dilipsinh alias Dipo, and Narendrasing Rawat. Police efforts continue to bring all involved parties to justice and ensure the complete resolution of this interstate theft case.
