Ramgarh: Siblings Rescued from Rented Hideout After 13-Day Interstate Hunt
A couple allegedly abducted two minor siblings from Ranchi's Dhurwa area about thirteen days ago. Police say the couple kept the children hidden at a rented asbestos house in Kauragarha Tungari, now known as Ahamadnagar.
Remote Location of the Hideout
The house sits nearly two kilometers away from Barkipona railway station. It falls under the Muri-Barkakana rail route within Rajrappa police station of Ramgarh district. Officers described the location as isolated and remote.
Ranchi police conducted a multi-state hunt for days. They finally rescued the minors from this house on Wednesday. The siblings, identified as Ansh and Anshika, were abducted from Mausibari Khatal in Dhurwa on January 2.
Journey to the Hideout
The couple reached Ahmadnagar around 5 pm on the same day as the abduction. They took a room on rent for one thousand rupees per month. The house belongs to a seventy-year-old widow named Roshan Ara.
TOI visited the place on Wednesday after news of the recovery surfaced early in the morning. The house is located on a remote hillock, nearly one hundred meters away from the village road. This road connects Chitarpur with Dulmi and other villages in Dulmi block of the district.
Description of the Property
Only two houses with cement-sheet roofs stand in the area. A boundary wall surrounds them. Roshan Ara lived alone in the eastern part of the house. Her sons reside in Delhi.
The western part of the house had two vacant rooms. Ara told TOI that a couple with two kids came to her home asking for rent. They said they earn their livelihood as vendors moving from place to place.
"I showed mercy on the couple and provided them my vacant room at Rs 1,000 per month without advance," she said. Ara added that the couple used to go out with the girl child every day. They claimed they were looking for a labourer job in the market.
They left the boy child with her during these outings. "I never suspected that they were abductors," she admitted.
Role of Local Youths in the Rescue
Meanwhile, three youths from Chitarpur played a crucial role in tracing the kids. Dablu Sahu, Sachin Prajapati, and Sunny Kumar are active as social media influencers. They kept regularly posting photos of the missing children on social media.
Bhanu Prakash Mahto, the local mukhiya, said Dablu and his friends first spotted the abducted kids on Wednesday. They arranged a video call with the parents in Ranchi.
"They showed the children's faces to the parents, who identified them as Ansh and Anshika. Later, the youths dialled 100 and informed the police," he claimed.
Political Recognition of the Efforts
On the other hand, BJP's Hazaribag MP Manish Jaiswal commented on the incident. He said, "Three youths affiliated to Bajrang Dal in Chitarpur had first spotted the abducted children, which then led to their recovery. They are also true heroes."
Police stated that the couple was part of a larger interstate trafficking gang. The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover more details about the gang's operations.
