Ranchi: The Ranchi senior superintendent of police (SSP) has suspended an investigating officer (IO) from the Dhurwa police station after a 43-year-old man allegedly died by suicide on Monday within the station’s jurisdiction.
Incident Details
Ranchi SP Paras Rana stated that the deceased, identified as Pradhan Yadav, had a minor scuffle with a neighbor about a week ago. According to Rana, “Yadav in his suicide note wrote that following the brawl, both parties agreed not to file an FIR. However, the other party lodged an FIR against Yadav on June 11. Subsequently, Jitendra Nath Tudu, the IO, issued a notice to Yadav, asking him to present his version on the matter.”
Suicide and Police Action
The city SP added that the deceased, fearing police action, allegedly died by suicide at his home on Monday. “The investigating officer of the case has been suspended by the Ranchi SSP following his death,” Rana confirmed.
Public Reaction
Relatives of the deceased staged a protest outside the Dhurwa police station, accusing the police of being responsible for the incident.
