Ranchi District Administration Seizes LPG Cylinders in Bariatu Raid
The district administration in Ranchi conducted a significant operation on Saturday, resulting in the seizure of close to a dozen LPG cylinders from two residential properties located on Harihar Singh Road. This action falls under the jurisdiction of the Bariatu police station, where authorities have taken strict measures to enforce compliance with essential commodity regulations.
FIR Lodged Under Essential Commodities Act
Based on a formal complaint filed by official Rajesh Kerketta, an FIR has been registered with the local police station. The case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act, highlighting the legal framework governing the distribution and use of such critical resources. This step underscores the administration's commitment to addressing potential violations that could disrupt public supply chains.
Details of the Raid Operations
Acting on a tip-off, a specialized team from the district administration launched a raid on one of the houses. During this operation, they confiscated two empty cylinders, each weighing five kilograms, along with a broken empty cylinder. In a subsequent and similar operation at another nearby house, the team made further seizures, including seven empty cylinders and two filled cylinders.
Additionally, the raid uncovered five small cylinders, a regulator used for refilling gas, and various pipes from the scene. These items suggest potential unauthorized activities related to LPG handling, which could pose safety risks or lead to black-market operations.
Implications and Enforcement Measures
The seizure of these LPG cylinders is part of broader efforts by the district administration to curb illegal practices and ensure the proper distribution of essential commodities. By taking swift action based on complaints and tips, authorities aim to maintain public order and prevent any misuse of resources that are vital for daily life.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to legal standards in the handling of essential items, with ongoing vigilance from law enforcement agencies to protect community interests.
