Ranchi Police Rescue Siblings After 12-Day Hunt, Uncover Trafficking Network
Police in Ranchi successfully rescued two young siblings on Wednesday morning. The children went missing twelve days earlier from their Dhurwa neighborhood. Officers conducted a special operation in Ramgarh to recover the minors.
A vendor couple now faces arrest on abduction charges. Authorities believe this case connects to a larger interstate human trafficking network. Police personnel stated they are currently peeling back the layers of this criminal operation.
The Disappearance and Rescue Operation
Five-year-old Ansh and four-year-old Anshika vanished on January 2. They disappeared from the Mausi Badi Khatal area of Dhurwa while reportedly going out to buy chocolates. Their disappearance triggered an extensive search operation spanning twelve Indian states.
A special team from Ranchi City Police collaborated with Ramgarh counterparts to raid a house in Chitarpur. This raid resulted in the successful recovery of both children. The siblings appeared before the child welfare committee later that same day.
Police sources revealed that local youngsters in Chitarpur first spotted the missing children. These alert citizens immediately notified authorities, prompting the decisive police action on Wednesday.
Massive Investigation Efforts
The search operation involved extraordinary resources and coordination. Police dispatched investigation teams to multiple states including Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Maharashtra. Child rights organizations joined the effort to expand the probe's reach.
Authorities organized forty-eight police officers into specialized teams. They analyzed approximately five hundred CCTV footage recordings during the investigation. Police verified more than five thousand vehicles and examined their potential involvement in the incident.
The reward for information started at fifty thousand rupees. Officials later increased this amount to two lakh rupees for each child. They issued a 'Hue & Cry' alert seeking nationwide assistance in locating the missing siblings.
Official Reactions and Political Responses
Police presented the rescued children at Police Headquarters around 1 pm. Director General of Police Tadasha Mishra announced that officers involved in the operation would receive reward recommendations. She praised their tireless work against significant odds.
