A city-based restaurateur died allegedly by consuming poison at one of his restaurants situated under the Lalpur police station limits on Thursday, police said. The deceased was identified as 38-year-old Abhimanyu Bhatia, police added.
Incident Details
Deputy superintendent of police K V Raman said, “Bhatia was taken to a city-based hospital but died during treatment. The body has been sent to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) for post-mortem examination.”
“The reasons behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. Forensic teams arrived at the spot and started investigating the matter,” he added.
Investigation Underway
Authorities are probing the circumstances surrounding the death. The forensic team has collected evidence from the restaurant premises. Police have registered a case and are questioning staff and family members to determine the motive behind the act. No suicide note has been recovered so far.
