Retired Colonel Robbed of Rs 2.20 Lakh in Jaipur

Jaipur: A 71-year-old retired colonel was held hostage and robbed of Rs 2.20 lakh by a masked intruder at his residence in Bagru area on Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to police, the incident took place around 1:30 pm when the victim was alone at home watching television. Officials said the suspect entered the house through the gate, wearing a helmet and carrying a knife, with a pistol tucked into his pants. He threatened the elderly man and demanded money.

When the victim said he had no cash, the accused allegedly snatched his mobile phone and smashed it. Police said the accused then made the victim inhale a substance, rendering him unconscious. Officials added that the accused tied the victim’s hands, feet, and mouth, placed him on the bed, and took Rs 2.20 lakh kept in a rack in the room before fleeing.

The victim told police he regained consciousness after about 2.5 hours and found himself bound, with household items scattered. He struggled for nearly 45 minutes before freeing himself and alerting neighbours, who informed the police. Based on his complaint, Bagru police registered an FIR and launched an investigation.

Police said teams are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify and trace the accused. Further investigation is under way.
