Revenue Authorities Survey Former BRS MLA's Farmhouse in Hyderabad Drug Case
In a significant development in Hyderabad, revenue officials have conducted a detailed survey of the farmhouse belonging to former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy. This action follows a formal proposal from local police seeking the seizure of the property under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act.
Police Request Precedes Property Survey
The Moinabad police registered the case on March 14, 2024, after coordinated raids by the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) and Future City police. Acting on specific intelligence about a party involving narcotics, authorities raided Rohith Reddy's farmhouse on the night of March 14, resulting in the arrest of eleven individuals.
Forensic tests confirmed that six of those arrested tested positive for various substances:
- Four individuals tested positive for cocaine use
- One person tested positive for amphetamine
- Another tested positive for methamphetamine
Legal Proceedings and Judicial Remand
Among those arrested were Rohith Reddy, his brother Ritesh Reddy, and another accused named Namith Sharma. All three are currently in judicial remand at Chanchalguda prison. A local court is scheduled to decide on Monday regarding a police custody petition filed against these three primary accused individuals.
"The property is yet to be seized," confirmed an official familiar with the case details. Revenue authorities have not yet informed police about the specific timeline for the property seizure, though the survey represents a crucial step in that legal process.
Political Connections in the Case
The case has drawn additional attention due to the involvement of Andhra Pradesh TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, who was allegedly present at the farmhouse along with Rohith Reddy and four others when authorities conducted their raid. The presence of elected representatives from different political parties has added a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.
This development comes as Hyderabad continues to grapple with drug-related cases, with enforcement agencies like EAGLE taking increasingly proactive measures against narcotics distribution and consumption networks in the region.
