A road rage case initially registered as murder in Hisar has been reclassified as accidental death following a detailed investigation. Police have arrested three individuals, including the truck driver involved in the incident.
Accused Identified and Arrested
The accused have been identified as Bantiram, a resident of Dhani Mahu in Bhiwani, and Sombir and Randeep, both residents of Talwandi Badshahpur village in Hisar. All three have been taken into custody. Authorities have also seized the truck and a car used in the incident.
Background of the Case
The case was registered at Azad Nagar police station on April 26 based on a complaint filed by Rahul, a resident of Meham in Rohtak. Rahul's brother-in-law, Anil Kumar, died in the incident. According to the complaint, Rahul and Anil were returning on a motorcycle on the night of April 25 when soil fell on them from an overloaded truck. An argument ensued, and Rahul alleged that the driver called others, leading to a scuffle. He claimed that casteist abuses were hurled and Anil was pushed under the truck.
Investigation Findings
Police reviewed CCTV footage and witness statements, which indicated a different sequence of events. During the altercation, villagers intervened and asked the truck driver to leave. Amid the commotion, Anil came under the rear tyre as the vehicle moved. The driver reversed after being alerted, but Anil had already suffered fatal injuries.
Charges Revised
Based on these findings, police dropped the murder charge and invoked sections related to causing death by negligence. Provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have also been added. Further investigation is underway.
