Ranchi: High court advocate Rohitashya Roy has been appointed the new advocate general (AG) of Jharkhand. The appointment was made on Sunday, as per a notification issued by Neeraj Kumar Srivastava, principal secretary-cum-legal advisor of the law department.
Appointment Details
The notification, released on Sunday evening, stated that Roy has been appointed as AG from the date he assumes office until further order. This move comes after the outgoing AG Rajiv Ranjan submitted his resignation on Sunday, which was accepted with immediate effect.
Promotion of Additional AG
In a separate notification, Srivastava announced that additional advocate general (AAG) Achutya Keshav has been promoted to the position of senior AAG. This change is part of the ongoing administrative reshuffle within the state's legal department.
Roy's appointment marks a new chapter for the Jharkhand law office, bringing fresh leadership to the state's legal affairs. The transition is expected to ensure continuity in legal proceedings and government representation.
