The Railway Protection Force (RPF) carried out an anti-encroachment operation at the Mithapur vegetable market, located beneath the road over bridge (ROB) near the western end of Patna Junction, on Saturday evening. The drive targeted unauthorized commercial activities on railway land, which had been ongoing for an extended period without permission.
Operation Details
According to Danapur Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Senior DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, the enforcement action resulted in the detention of 26 individuals involved in unauthorized vending and other commercial enterprises on railway premises. The detainees were booked under relevant legal provisions. This operation is part of a broader campaign to reclaim and protect railway land from encroachments, Siddarth said.
Background and Impact
The Mithapur market had been functioning illegally for a prolonged period, prompting the RPF to intervene. The drive underscores the railway authorities' commitment to clearing encroachments and ensuring that railway property is used only for authorized purposes. The detained individuals will face legal proceedings as per the law.
This initiative is expected to deter future encroachments and help maintain order near Patna Junction, a major railway hub. The RPF continues to monitor such activities to prevent recurrence.
