Heroic RPF Duo Saves Elderly Tourist from Certain Death

In a breathtaking display of courage and quick thinking, two Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel risked their own lives to save a 66-year-old tourist from a potentially fatal accident at Margao's Konkan Railway station in Goa. The dramatic rescue occurred around 7 pm on Sunday when the elderly visitor from Maharashtra found himself in a life-threatening situation.

The Near-Fatal Incident

According to RPF inspector Manjunath Kholi, the victim, Ganesh Limraj, was attempting to disembark from the Konkan Kanya Express while the train was still in motion. As the tourist jumped from the slowing train, he tragically lost his balance and slipped into the dangerous gap between the moving coaches and the platform edge.

The situation turned critical within seconds as Limraj struggled to free himself while the train continued moving. Eyewitnesses described moments of panic as the elderly man faced the real possibility of being dragged under the heavy railway coaches.

Swift Rescue Operation

RPF constable Kapil Saini, who was stationed nearby, immediately spotted the distressed tourist. Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind and lightning-fast reflexes, Saini rushed to the scene without hesitation. He was quickly joined by head constable RS Bhai, and together the two officers managed to grab hold of the struggling man.

Working against time, the brave RPF personnel pulled Limraj to safety just moments before he could have been crushed under the moving train. Their coordinated effort and fearless action prevented what could have been a tragic loss of life at the railway station.

Recognition and Rewards

In recognition of their exceptional bravery and quick response, Konkan Railway chairman and managing director Santosh Kumar Jha announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 each for both constable Saini and head constable Bhai. The railway authorities commended the officers for their heroic actions that saved an innocent life.

The incident has highlighted the importance of railway safety protocols. Inspector Kholi emphasized that passengers must strictly avoid boarding or alighting from moving trains and should always follow all railway safety guidelines to prevent such dangerous situations.

This heart-stopping rescue serves as both a warning about the dangers of disregarding safety measures and an inspiring example of the dedication shown by RPF personnel in protecting railway passengers across India.
