In a significant operation, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at Tatanagar railway station in Jamshedpur successfully rescued five minor girls who were being trafficked to Tamil Nadu. The rescue, which took place on Sunday evening, also led to the arrest of two women alleged to be the traffickers.
Operation at the Railway Station
The RPF team, acting on suspicion, intercepted the group at the station. The minors, all aged between 15 and 17 years, were residents of West Singhbhum district. They had been brought to the Tatanagar railway station to board a train bound for Tamil Nadu.
Officials questioned the two women accompanying the girls, identified as Savita Birua and Belmati Hembram. Upon sustained questioning, the women confessed to their involvement in trafficking the minors. This confession led to their immediate arrest by the vigilant RPF team.
Aftermath and Rehabilitation
Following the rescue, the five girls were taken into safe custody. As per protocol, they have been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for necessary care and rehabilitation. The CWC will oversee their safe return and support process.
