In a significant crackdown on illicit cultivation, the Khargone police in Madhya Pradesh have seized cannabis plants with an estimated market value of nearly Rs 10 lakh. The operation, based on specific intelligence, targeted three separate locations in the Maheshwar area.
Coordinated Police Raids Uncover Hidden Cultivation
Acting on a confidential tip-off, joint teams from three police stations conducted simultaneous raids. The operations were focused on the farms of two individuals named Kailash Dabur and Dinesh Dabur in Bhavantalai, and another belonging to Suresh Ninama in Hindola Gavadi. According to Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma, the accused had attempted to conceal their illegal activity by secretly planting cannabis among other legitimate crops on their farmland.
Massive Haul: 2 Quintals of Cannabis Recovered
The police teams successfully uprooted and confiscated all the illicit plants. The total haul from the three farms amounted to 278 cannabis plants, with a combined weight of approximately 2 quintals. The street value of this seizure is pegged at around Rs 10 lakh, marking a substantial blow to local drug cultivation networks.
Legal Action Initiated Against Accused
Following the raids, the Khargone police have registered formal cases against the accused individuals. SP Ravindra Verma confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine if there are wider connections to drug distribution chains in the region. This action underscores the police's continued vigilance against narcotics production in rural parts of Madhya Pradesh.
