Gumla: Police on Thursday announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for any information leading to the whereabouts of Sanjita Kumari, a resident of Khora Jamtoli village, who was around 13 years old when she went missing in September 2018.

The Jharkhand High Court on April 20 set a two-week deadline for the state government to trace the minor girl. A day after the court order, Director General of Police Tadasha Mishra visited Gumla to review the investigation into the case.

According to the notice describing her last-known appearance, a case was registered on February 6, 2020, with the district Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) police station. Despite extensive searches and the use of technical surveillance, no concrete clues regarding her whereabouts have been found so far. Background of the Case

Sanjita Kumari went missing from her village in September 2018. The case remained unsolved for over a year before being formally registered with the AHTU in February 2020. The High Court intervention came after a petition highlighting the lack of progress in the investigation.

The reward announcement is part of renewed efforts by the police to trace the girl, with the DGP personally overseeing the probe. Authorities have assured that informants' identities will be kept confidential.
