Rs 25 Lakh Cash Stolen in Broad Daylight in Junagadh

A 23-year-old grain commission agent from Junagadh has alleged that Rs 25 lakh in cash, which he had withdrawn to pay farmers, was stolen by a trusted associate in broad daylight. The incident prompted police to register a case of criminal breach of trust and initiate an investigation.

Details of the Incident

Rizwan Parmar, a resident of Bhesan in Junagadh district, filed a complaint at the A Division police station against Anjum Parmar, Vaibhav Nimbark, and Chirag Parmar, along with others, under Sections 316(2) and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Rizwan withdrew Rs 25 lakh in cash from an HDFC Bank branch in Junagadh on Monday to make payments to farmers. He was accompanied by his distant cousin, Anjum Parmar, to whom he entrusted the bag of cash.

The Sequence of Events

The two then set out for Visavadar to make payments. When they were near Ramdevpir Chowk, an Eon car stopped in front of them. Vaibhav Nimbark and Chirag Parmar, both residents of Bhesan, were inside the vehicle.

Rizwan alleged that Anjum Parmar stepped out with the bag of cash and got into the Eon car with the other two. Initially believing Anjum would return shortly, Rizwan waited. However, the trio drove off towards Sabalpur.

Aftermath and Investigation

Despite repeated phone calls, the accused did not respond. When contact was eventually established, they allegedly told Rizwan that the money would be returned. The amount, he stated, has not been repaid till date.

Junagadh A Division police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
