Businessman Targeted in Daring Rajkot Factory Break-In
A significant burglary has shaken the industrial area of Metoda GIDC in rural Rajkot, where an unidentified thief made off with a substantial amount of cash. The incident came to light on Thursday when the owner of Lexmo Polyflex Industries discovered his accountant's office had been forcibly entered.
The Discovery and The Stolen Goods
Deepak Gediya, a 49-year-old businessman, has been operating his LDP pipe manufacturing unit from the Metoda GIDC estate since 2005. As is the practice, the factory kept cash on the premises in the accountant's office to manage daily operational costs. These expenses include truck charges, rental payments, maintenance work, and other petty cash needs.
On Tuesday, the office held a sum of Rs 6,00,500. With Wednesday being a holiday, the premises remained largely unattended. The break-in was discovered on Thursday morning, when staff found the door to the accountant's office damaged. The lock was broken, and the glass pane was shattered, clear signs of a forced entry.
Upon checking, it was confirmed that the thief had stolen Rs 6 lakh in cash and a mobile phone, leaving behind a mere Rs 500. The swift and targeted nature of the crime suggests the perpetrator had knowledge of the cash storage.
Police Investigation Underway
Deepak Gediya promptly approached the Metoda GIDC police station and filed a formal complaint against an unknown person. Law enforcement officials have registered a case of burglary and theft and have initiated an investigation.
Authorities are likely examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning potential witnesses to piece together the events that transpired between Tuesday evening and Thursday morning. The police are pursuing all leads to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for this financial loss to the business.
