Two Auto Firm Employees Robbed of Rs 7 Lakh on Sampark Kranti Express in Rudrapur
In a shocking incident that has raised serious security concerns, two employees of an automobile firm in Rudrapur were looted of nearly Rs 7 lakh while travelling aboard the Sampark Kranti Express on Wednesday. The brazen robbery occurred as the train was en route to Delhi, highlighting vulnerabilities in railway security.
Details of the Robbery Incident
Police identified the victims as Rithik Mandal and Sahib Singh, both employees of the same automobile firm located in Singh Colony. The duo had boarded the train from Rudrapur railway station in the morning and were travelling to Delhi to procure goods for their company. According to authorities, they were carrying the substantial cash amount around their waists in specially made belts for security purposes.
Preliminary investigation strongly suggests that the assailants had prior information about the cash movement. As the train slowed down near Bilaspur railway station, three armed miscreants surrounded Mandal and Singh. At gunpoint, the criminals forced the terrified employees to hand over the money.
Police Investigation and Statements
Santosh Kumar Meena, in-charge of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) outpost, provided crucial details about the incident. "The accused were carrying country-made pistols and appear to have had prior knowledge about the cash movement," Meena stated, emphasizing the planned nature of the crime.
After successfully executing the robbery, the miscreants allegedly opened fire in the air to create panic and then jumped off the moving train, making their escape. This daring exit strategy has complicated immediate apprehension efforts.
Community Outrage and Demands for Action
The incident has sparked significant outrage among local traders and business communities in Rudrapur. Several concerned businessmen immediately reached the railway station following the news, demanding swift and decisive action from authorities.
Sanjay Juneja, president of the local trader union, expressed deep concern about the safety of businesspeople. "We are deeply concerned about the safety of traders. Such incidents cannot be tolerated. The culprits must be arrested at the earliest," Juneja declared, reflecting the growing anxiety within the commercial community.
Ongoing Investigation Efforts
Police and RPF teams have launched a comprehensive joint investigation into the robbery. Key aspects of their investigation include:
- Scanning and analyzing CCTV footage from the train and railway stations
- Identifying potential suspects based on witness descriptions
- Investigating possible information leaks about the cash movement
- Coordating with multiple law enforcement agencies across jurisdictions
The authorities are working diligently to track down and apprehend the accused individuals responsible for this calculated crime. The incident has prompted renewed discussions about security measures on long-distance trains and the protection of passengers carrying valuable items.
