Sahiya tied to electric pole in Giridih over domestic dispute

Bokaro: A 65-year-old Sahiya (community health worker) was tied to an electric pole for two hours in a village in Giridih district on Monday following a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in Chandauri village under Tisri police station limits. Malti Devi’s son Pintu Ravidas, 41, was detained along with a woman for questioning, police said.

Incident Details

Locals reported that Pintu, married since 2011 and father of four children, arrived at the family home with a woman on Monday. Pintu’s wife Munni Devi opposed the move, leading to further tension. Munni claimed Pintu tortured her when she raised objections. Pintu, who works at a private firm, lives with his family in Chandauri village.

Victim's Account

“We got married in 2011 and have four children — our eldest daughter is 10 years old and the youngest is two and a half years old. When he brought another woman home, I protested. He then started torturing me, after which I informed my parents,” Munni said. Munni’s family members reached Chandauri village soon after. When they could not trace Pintu, Munni’s kin allegedly turned towards Malti, a sahiya, and tied her to a pole, demanding that her son appear at the earliest. “I was tied up for two hours and assaulted,” Malti said. Munni’s relatives, however, denied the charges.

We rescued her. Further probe is on. Pintu and the woman accompanying him have been detained for questioning,” Ishwar said.
